Article #1 - Thoughts on writing essays.

Why did not each meber [sic] of the committee appointed at a meeting of the association held 1st mo 11th to write essays fulfill their appointment? Now this question is rather a difficult one for me to answer why each one did not fulfil [sic] their appointment, as I have not had the opportunity of consulting each of them, I can answer for myself that as I had not thought of becoming a member but through the persuasion of some of the most active members I consented to it with the understanding that this would be all that would be required of me. So I have rested quite well satisfied with trying to improve myself by hearing the essays of my fellow members, who are much more capable than I, but I hope at some future time to be enabled to fulfill

such an appointment which I believe to be very useful
